Sappington spent 12 years working for the Missouri Dept. of Natural Resources (DNR), conducting water quality monitoring, as well as grant and wastewater discharge permit writing, before spending the past several years as a private sector environmental compliance consultant.

“Everything we do is about improving the quality of life for communities through water and wastewater,” said Jo Anna McMahon, CSWR’s Director of Environmental, Health & Safety. “Amanda shares that same passion. It’s been her life’s work and we’re thrilled to add her to our team.”

A native of Sullivan, Missouri, Sappington received her undergraduate degree from Salem University in West Virginia and her masters of environmental science from Washington University St. Louis.

“I stumbled into water quality, wanting to be a biologist, but I really enjoy helping communities improve water quality,” said Sappington, who recently worked with Niangua Hydro Electric power plant water quality monitoring project as part of the relicensing process with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC). “Central States feels like an exciting place in that it’s local, fast-growing and there are a lot of opportunities to expand my horizons in drinking water and wastewater.”
